INFORMEER

Stefano Marchetti is net zozeer alchemist als een sieraadontwerper en heeft altijd al een voorliefde gehad voor metaal, vuur, chemie en computers. Hij creëert een archaïsche beeldtaal van kostbare, gescheurde fragmenten die hij behandelt met een schilderkunstige gevoeligheid voor kleur en vorm. Materialen, metalen in het bijzonder,” zegt hij, “met hun potentieel om betekenis vast te houden en over te dragen, staan in het middelpunt van mijn onderzoek”. Niet bang om zijn passie voor sieraden en de ervaring van het maken uit te proberen, leveren zijn materiaalverkenningen hem zowel schoonheid als nachtmerries op. Niet het materiaal zorgt voor het resultaat, zegt hij, maar ons vermogen om het te bevruchten met ideeën.

In 1970 geboren in Padua, IT, studeerde Stefano bij Francesco Pavan aan het Istituto Statale d’Arte Pietro Selvatico in Padua en ook beeldhouwen aan de Accademia di belle Arti in Venetië. Hij won talrijke prijzen, zoals de Marzee Prijs in 2010 en de Herbert Hofmann Prijs tijdens Schmuck in 2016. Zijn werk is opgenomen in de collecties van onder meer de Marzee Collection, CODA Museum Apeldoorn, Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim, Dallas Museum of Art, Texas (VS), Museum of Art & Design in New York, Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art in the UK en het Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Parijs.
