Barbara Schrobenhauser

Materiality and method lie at the heart of Barbara Schrobenhauser’s work and the subtlety and simplicity of her pieces are a carefully crafted deception. Her inquisitive and exploratory approach is self-evident. Barbara thinks with her hands and it is only by touching, or better, wearing her jewellery that you can fully understand it.

Barbara was born in Traunstein in Germany in 1979 and studied in Otto Künzli’s class at the Akademie der Bildende Künste in Munich, graduating in 2013. She has received a number of awards, including the Bavarian State Prize for Young Applied Arts in 2015 and the Danner-Ehrenpreis in 2017. Widely exhibited, her work can be seen in collections such as the Marzee Collection, CODA Museum in the Netherlands and the Alice and Louis Koch Collection in Zurich.
