Marie-José van den Hout
named RISD Gallerist of the Year
February 2019

In 2019, Marie-José van den Hout was appointed Gallerist of the Year at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence in the US, curating the Marzee Room as part of Shape Shifters, the Jewelry + Metalsmithing programme’s undergraduate, graduate and alumni exhibition addressing the elusive and always evolving nature of jewellery.

“There’s nothing timid about the work Marzee [van den Hout’s professional moniker] selected for her room,” says Tracey Steepy (department head). “She knows as much about the work of RISD J+M alumni as anybody out there and has been really supportive of emerging RISD artists, particularly at the graduate level.”
