Grant McCaig

Using traditional techniques, Grant McCaig investigates the power of objects as well as the process of manufacture, exploring hand, machine and digital interventions to question our cultural and domestic landscape. His work sets out to challenge the idea of the finished object, questioning our perceptions of context and value that the subject of silversmithing has fostered.

Edinburgh-born artist Grant McCaig studied at Glasgow School of Art and then the Royal College of Art in London. He is currently a senior lecturer at UCA Rochester in the UK. His work is exhibited internationally and held in a number of collections, amongst them the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths’ Modern Collection in London, Birmingham Museums and Art Galleries and the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
