Ela Bauer

Ela Bauer’s brightly coloured jewellery is inspired by the internal and external aspects of the human form, sitting almost like a second skin across the body. Working largely in resin, textiles and silicone, sometimes incorporating semi-precious stones, wool or coral, her organic, cell-like forms express her preoccupation with movement and change.

Ela was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1960 but grew up in Israel. She studied Literature and Indology at the University of Jerusalem and then jewellery at vocational college and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her work is included in several museum collections, including the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and CODA Museum in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands, the Danner Collection at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, the Museum of Art and Design in New York, and the Hiko Mizuno Collection in Tokyo.
