Human beings have always given gifts – tangible objects to express otherwise intangible thoughts and emotions – and it is this idea that Dana Seachuga explores in her work. When referring to jewellery as a gift, it carries with it many different sociological and private meanings, she says, and these are the ambiguities which fascinate her. ‘I know what I have given you…I do not know what you have received.’ Antonio Porchia, Voces.
Dana Seachuga was born in Tel Aviv in Israel in 1977. After studying jewellery at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, in 2012 she moved to Germany, completing her master’s at Trier University of Applied Sciences in Idar-Oberstein in 2015. She currently lives and works in the Belgian city of Antwerp.
