Lucy’s relentless optimism was contagious, infecting everyone around her, and was a ray of hope for me when things were not going well for a while. She said recently that, without her optimism, her illness would have long since won. Only a few weeks ago it became clear that the end was coming very close. After years of fighting cancer, Lucy Sarneel died on 28 December 2020. This marks the end of more than 31 years of close cooperation and friendship.
She leaves behind so much beauty.
I wish Jelle, Niki and Anna great strength with this immense loss.

Galerie Marzee is very pleased to introduce renowned New Zealand jeweller Lisa Walker.
Considered one of the most influential contemporary jewellery artists, her work is driven by the ‘search for an aesthetic that we hardly ever see, but nevertheless perhaps recognise.
We are delighted to announce that Junwon Jung has won the Friedrich Becker Prize 2020. Junwon was awarded the prize for the extraordinary technical refinement of his Boxes brooches.
The prize has been awarded by the Association for Goldsmiths’ Art in commemoration of goldsmith Friedrich Becker
Our congratulations to Carla Nuis, one of the three recipients of this year’s Herbert Hofmann Prize.
Carla was awarded the prize for her Furl5 gold ring which, at first glance, appears solid and heavy. Formed of wafer-thin, welded gold sheet, the ring is, in fact, hollow and fragile, easily deformed by wearing.
All events at the IHM have been cancelled due to the spread of coronavirus/Covid-19 and the accompanying urgent recommendation of the crisis management team of the Bavarian State Government.
