Akiko Kurihara

Akiko Kurihara’s spare and elegant pieces are inspired by casual discoveries in daily life. With humour and wit, she makes the mundane playful and poignant. Akiko believes that jewellery is like poetry, communicating powerful stories in condensed forms. 

 

 

Milan-based jeweller Akiko Kurihara was born in Sapporo in Japan in 1975. She was educated at the Yamanashi Institute of Gemmology and Jewellery Art in Kofu, Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry in Tokyo and the the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich. Her work has been exhibited in Europe and Australasia and can be seen in the Marzee Collection, the Alice and Louis Koch Collection at the the Swiss National Museum in Zurich and the Gallery of Art in Legnica in Poland.
