MARKUS POLLINGER (DIPLOMA)
AKADEMIE DER BILDENDEN KUNSTE MUNCHEN
My vessel designs start with industrial forms that are produced using deep drawing and multiplication with large-scale industrial presses. I process them into new objects, allowing forms that were developed in an industrial setting to exhibit a new and different appearance and meaning. The basic shape remains mostly intact, but the transformation changes its function. The origins of the vessel are still visible, yet it invites contemplation. A mass-produced object has turned into something unique. My intervention gives them ‘soul’ and allows them to be seen in a different light. A comparison or value judgment between industrial products and craftmanship is not intended. Rather, I want to reveal new possibilities by combining both processes.
