This collection, Still Life Portraits, contains five different sets of jewellery. People seek permanence in the impermanence, which should be cherished but is almost forgotten. In East Asian cultures, it is said that if an object exists for a long time, there will be a spirit living in it. Still life painting shows this respect for objects. I make my own still life by casting and milling objects to make jewellery. The form is changed and their life extended. There’s a fragility to my jewellery which makes people hold it carefully. Life is also fragile and should be held safe like precious jewellery.
