AUGUSTIN JANS (MA)
I polarise my work around political and social issues. I respond by offering objects that are both cynical and committed, between humour and provocation. The jewel allows me to create a badge for the wearer. It spreads its message and disseminates it in the social space. Its space of existence is the body, its exhibition space the world. I orient my work around the issue of portability. I am interested in strange, sometimes disgusting subcultures. Social practices going against the grain lead me to question normality. By opposing the idea of standardisation, I design objects/concepts that question my own modesty and that of the spectators of these objects.
