PXL-MAD SCHOOL OF ARTS
Floating Steps is based on an experience that made me feel fear like I’ve never experienced before, a fear hidden in my subconscious. We create barriers to protect ourselves, a survival mechanism. I wanted to work with fear as a universal concept, taking a very personal feeling and make it universal. To do this I build the pieces with wax sheets and then melt them into glass. The interior represents contained fear and the exterior represents the barriers I put up to control it. Each piece shows how fear is inside us and reminds us that we are vulnerable, constantly striving to be the superheroes that we will never be. I start with the negative in order to make the positive things inside us flourish.
