This body of work is about physical identity. I am interested in the idea of uniqueness and individuality, and how societal standards influence our perception of beauty and ageing. This project is an invitation to recognise and value our uniqueness by applying techniques and materials related to the world of the ‘physical body industry’. Fifty face masks were made using a self-created material based on make-up. I use chiselling techniques, thread, staples, steel wire and stainless steel to construct the pieces. Each is exchangeable, to be used in a single steel wire necklace device.
