Ted: 36 Years on the Move / aka Route 36

“Well, welcome to my exhibition at Galerie Marzee in Nijmegen, in the Netherlands,… in Europe.

She was the first gallery who invited me with my work 36 years ago. And now I’m going to do a kind of overview of 36 years of work which is shown in these boxes and on every box there’s a year and a work which is still available to bring to your own house.”

Ted’s exhibition ‘36 Years on the Move / aka Route 36‘ is a wonderful overview of his work, spanning not only 36 years of his career but also the entire second floor of the gallery. This webpage lists the works in the exhibition, with links – where possible – to the video above in which Ted tells about his work. There are references to pages of the book produced especially for this exhibition which are depicted with the works underneath.
The stories in the book are by Ted himself, design and illustrations by Into Niilo with an introduction by Elena Karpilova.

Not only do the works come to life through the stories – which you can find in the pictures with the works together with the drawings from Into Niilo – but they also offer a glimpse into the era in which they were created.
Ted is a gifted storyteller, a quality that is also evident in his work. Although the exhibition has a museum-like feel, almost all the works are for sale.
