Tamia Dellinger
Face to Face
Tamia Dellinger, is a Lisbon-based contemporary jewelry artist and winner of the 2022 Marzee Graduate Prize. She holds an
MFA in Jewellery and Gemstones from Trier University of Applied Sciences in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, alongside her jewelry
training from Ar.co – Centro de Arte & Comunicação Visual, where she currently teaches. Her work is a reflection of the
landscapes that surround her, making use of symbolism and materiality to create narratives.
With this body of work, I wanted to finally bring this shape to the center of my practice. The work is about the relationship between absence and presence, the hidden and the revealed. By carving a face as a negative void into stone, I create a permanent mold. From that emptiness, a positive piece is born. In the exhibition, both the stone mold and the final cast piece are present, standing face-to-face as a direct dialogue between the hollow space and the form that came out of it.
