I focus on the intimate and communicative powers of jewellery, investigating its possible function as a statement, reminder or communicator that we carry with us as we interact with the world. My work has associations with toys, naivety, darkness and sometimes violence. I think a lot about life and death, and the tension that moments hold. Many of my motifs come from simple but necessary chores like gardening or cooking – repetitive moments that hold so much and so little information and yet form the framework of my life. I use art as my way to investigate my surroundings. Cultural objects tell us a lot about how we see ourselves in relation to other people and other species. What I depict gives my perspective.
