Mareen Alburg Duncker

Mareen Alburg Duncker first began to create jewellery based on visual impressions of her surroundings whilst studying for her diploma at Burg Giebichenstein in Halle (Saale). Walking the city’s streets, she collects pictures in her mind, images that evoke emotions and sensations which she translates into necklaces, bracelets and brooches mapping her oases, her ‘small islands, places of relaxation’.

Mareen Alburg Duncker was born in the German town of Hennigsdorf in 1975. Following a jewellery internship in Berlin, she relocated to Halle (Saale) to study jewellery at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design between 2001 and 2008 under the tutelage of Dorothea Prühl, Peter Skubic and Daniel Kruger. Mareen’s work has been exhibited across Europe and is held in the Marzee Collection. She continues to live and work in Halle.
