Juliane Brandes - The Noise of Time (Der Lärm der Zeit)

The Noise of Time

The noise of time rings in my ears, even when I turn off the sound. The noise of images streams from the internet. Where is the truth? Is the law of the strongest gaining ground? Can I just sit in my workshop and make jewelry?

In Julian Barnes’ book “The Noise of Time,” the artist attempts to confront “power” with the help of humor and irony. But “power” is resourceful and tries to instill fear and humiliation in the composer’s mind. I was inspired by the book: there are hellhounds, great and small witnesses of the times, transience, the hand that holds everything back, and, fortunately, wisdom in the form of the owl. In the end, there are suitcases to pack in order to finally get away.
