Israeli-born artist Dot Melanin does not cling to any particular material or technique. He wants to work freely, without personal attachment to his pieces. Objects, motifs, colours, shapes, words and materials come together as an assemblage of elements, creating a world of associations that will take each wearer and viewer on a personal journey.
Dot gained his bachelor’s from Shenkar College of Engineering, Design & Art in 2013 and, after studying for a year at EKA – Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn, his master’s from Trier University of Applied Sciences in the German city of Idar-Oberstein. He was a recipient of the Marzee Graduate Prize in 2016.
