Stephanie Fleck is fascinated by folk art, especially by its symbols. She does not consider herself a conceptual artist. Rather, she simply starts working and develops new ideas along the way. This allows her the freedom to add or extract elements during the process.
The brooch Mask was inspired by African masks, which often incorporate abstract faces. The necklace Bones contains the shapes of bones and a skull, which are reminiscent of tribal art. It has an abstract meaning, which is related to the private life of the artist.
This brooch will protect the wearer against the Evil Eye.
The necklace Bird was inspired by ancient mexican tribal art. It represents a nose ring and a bird, which has opened its wings. The back of the work is also highly finished.
