Jun Konishi

Japanese artist Jun Konishi says that jewellery’s relationship with the body is always situated at the heart of his practice. He seeks possibilities within the territories of contemporary jewellery, working predominantly with plastics to create brooches and necklaces with colourful curlicues carved from plastic bottles.

Jun was born in Gunma in Japan in 1974 and educated at Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry in Tokyo and the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich under the tutelage of Otto Künzli. Since 2010, he has taught at Itami Jewellery College in Hyogo. His work has been exhibited in Europe and Australasia and is held in the Marzee Collection, the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and the Heidi and Karl Bollmann Collection in Austria.
