Flóra Vági

Flóra Vági creates objects that are intimate and meaningful to their owners – jewellery, she says, which not only adorns but also talks or sometimes whispers. The choice of materials is central to Flóra’s practice and the natural and poetic character of wood lends itself to her exploration of the contrasts and harmonies in nature. Colour adds depth and meaning to her sculptural forms, reminiscent of the twists and curls of pencil shavings fallen from a sharpener.

Born in Budapest in 1978, Flóra studied at the city’s Polytechnic of Crafts, the National Autonomous University of Mexico and later at Alchimia in Florence. She has a master’s from the Royal College of Art in London and now lectures at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. Her work has been widely exhibited and can be seen in the Marzee Collection as well as the collections of CODA Museum in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands and Grassi Museum of Applied Arts in Leipzig.
