Quattro stagioni a ravary
The title ‘Quattro stagioni a ravary’ explores the notion of the seasons as experienced at atelier ravary. ravary is situated in an idyllic country setting in Belgium, and through visiting at two different times of the year, the change in colour and light became apparent as the year progressed through seasonal change.
The brooches which resulted from atelier ravary are comprised of up-cycled vintage costume jewellery, beads and findings re-framed in white enamelled copper structures. however,
an invisible coating of photo-chromic light-sensitive paint, activated by the sun, transforms the pieces from blank white to an arresting interplay of painterly colour and light when
the jewellery is worn in sunlight. The pieces are also adorned with glow-in-the-dark elements which react to an absence
of light by glowing luminescent green in the dark. My work plays with mystery and the inherent qualities of light relating to the seasons, for jewellery has always been a beacon for the interplay of light.
