Barbara Paganin

Barbara Paganin sees her work as a natural extension of herself. With a visual language more rooted in northern Europe than Italy, her jewellery reflects her need to express herself in a different and more complex stylistic way. These mind maps and miniature landscapes – in metal, glass, stones, found objects, ceramics, resin, photographs – form part of her ongoing artistic research into memory and catharsis, both her own and those of the wearer and viewer.

Barbara Paganin was born in Venice in 1961. She studied jewellery and metals at the Istituto Statale d’Arte di Venezia and then sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. Since 1988, she has been chair of professional design for the art of metals and jewellery at the Liceo Artistico Michelangelo Guggenheim. Her work is held in collections including the Marzee Collection, the Ca’ Pesaro Galleria Internazionale d’Arte Moderna in Venice, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York.
